First World Problems

First World Problems

There are three shows that I watch every week and that are the only things I will always look forward to no matter what. It doesn’t matter how horrible a week I’m having or even how amazing my day has been going, I am always so excited for The Flash, Arrow, and Legends to air so I can see my favorite characters.
The most terrible thing happened last week. Arrow and The Flash were postponed for the next three  weeks. I honestly feel like I have nothing to look forward to in life. (I realize I sound super pathetic and first world problems but it makes a difference.) Luckily I do have one show left, Legends, but it really sucks because I was looking forward to the next episodes before I knew they were being postponed.
Arrow and The Flash are coming back in two weeks and I will miss them while they are away but I can’t wait for them to come back.

Not Ready

Not Ready

Costumes are flying,
Paint is everywhere,
Wood chips,
Sawing,
Drills,
Nails,
Screws,
Everything. Everywhere.

I’ve seen the stage, I’m part of the crew, I’ve worked on it. Stagecraft is something that I really wanted to do and I’m so happy I did, but sometimes I don’t know if we are ready. Like now. It’s two weeks until the show. Nope sorry, it’s ten days until opening night. Great, so much better. Ok, ten days. There are sets that need to be finished, props that need to be made, and a crap ton of things that need to be painted. So yeah, the pressure is on because if we don’t do well on sets, the whole play is in trouble. I’m not saying the actors are not important, they are, but stagecraft has a lot of pressure. I don’t know if we will finish. Currently. We. Are. Not. Ready.

A Light In the Darkness

A Light In the Darkness

A figure stood in the darkness,
A sadness surrounding the shape,
As you wonder, it falls together,
A part of you wants to help,
The other is filled with fear,
But you don’t know,
The shadow moves closer,
You realize the space is smaller,
It comes closer,
For you,

For the Light In the Darkness.

The Story Part 2

The Story Part 2

(If you haven’t read the first part, go here, http://awesomeinckitty.blogspot.com/2016/02/the-story-solmc-1.html)

There was a sliver of orange left on the horizon as the dragon and the girl left the decomposing house and crept through the shadows of the ally. They peered through the cracks in the crumbling buildings.

“There, Nightshade, that’s where we need to go.”

The girl was pointing to a large formation that used to be a weapons company, now just a cracked representation of the previous, grand city.

“What do you hope to find there?” A deep, husky voice came from behind them.

“Who are you.” She seemed a little too calm, Nightshade on the other hand had a look of sheer terror on her face.

“Well,” A man slipped out of the shadows, he had blue/green eyes and short brown hair. “My name is Sebastian.” He smiled. “I know what you’re planning on doing and I can promise you, it won’t work.”

“Look I have a plan and I promise you, it will work.” She shot back glaring at him. “How do you know it won’t work? And how would you know?”

“Because I’ve tried.” He shot back. “I’m just trying to help you not die. Oh and who are you and what is that?” Sebastian was pointing at Nightshade.

That is Nightshade, she’s my dragon. My name is Sara.”

“Well then Sara, maybe you could tell me your plan, and maybe, just maybe, I could help you.” Sebastian winked.

Sara rolled her eyes, “Fine.”

When They're Gone SOLMC#4

When They’re Gone

When you lose a person, your heart hurts. Your head hurts and you don’t really know what to feel. A part of you is glad that the suffering is over, but the rest of you wants the person to be back. You miss them, but of course, you have no say, it just happens, no warning, no preparation, but somehow, you understand. While it takes a little to get over it, you never really do, a part of you is missing, even if over time it gets smaller, it’s still there. Always there. And there is absolutely nothing you can do.

I dedicate this post to my grandfather who I love very very much,

Rain SOLMC#3

Rain

Rain,
Water dropping,
Small explosions of moisture,
Pelting windows,
Fighting umbrellas,
Melting into mud,
Staining the ground,
Filling gutters,
Carrying ducks,
Lifting boats,
Avoiding stomps,
Ageing the sky,
Teasing kids,
Preserving plants,
Pattering on roofs,
Slipping from needles,
Falling,
Falling,
Falling

Dancing SOLMC#2

Dancing

“Mom I’m scared.”
“Don't be, you should  be excited.”
“But there’s so many people!”

We were at my uncle’s wedding and my mom and I had been taking dance classes for this occasion and even though we had become pretty much pros at it, I had developed the biggest case of stage fright. Ever. Now I was young, like 2011 young, so at this moment, I’m about seven and also terrified out of my mind. The way we have it is that my mom will dance to two songs and I come in, a complete surprise to everyone at the last song. So my mom goes up on stage and starts her dance while I watch getting ready for my entrance.

I hear the cue,

I step onto the stage,

Applause erupts,

And I dance.

I was so scared, being in front of everyone, all of my family, knowing if I messed up I’d lose complete faith in myself and probably rush offstage sobbing. I had put all of this stupid pressure on myself and what I didn’t realize is that my face, was frozen. no emotion. No smile. No lip-synching. Nothing. Just me.
